SUMMER’O 2024 : Proclaiming and multiplying together (1/2)

« LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE BEFORE MEN ! »

SUMMER’O 2024 – 1, 2, 3… Go !

SUMMER’O 2024 begins with joy and the power of the Holy Spirit! Like every year, with the local BOOM church, missionary teams from Marseille and Christians from all over France and other countries, we’re coming together to equip, multiply and proclaim the good news of God’s grace with power and simplicity! In these first five days we have already seen the hand of God in decisions made for Jesus, in healings and deliverances and in baptisms in the Holy Spirit! As we gather in the mornings to teach and put into practice the gifts of the Spirit, the city of Marseille is filled with the light that lives within us as we gather from 7pm until 11pm on the city’s Old Port to share Jesus through proclamation at the microphone as well as through dance and entertainment.

Here are some testimonials from our participants :

Yaniv Descheemaecker – ‘I preached about pornography, about what I had experienced over the years [… ] it bore fruit’

‘I preached at SUMMER’O 2023, but this is the first time this year that I’ve given a testimony that I never thought I’d share. God had to warn me 4-5 months in advance that I was going to do this so that I could get used to the idea… At first I said no, but in the end I did it. It was God’s will, so I thought ‘come on!’ I preached about pornography, about what I’d been going through for years and it was something I was really ashamed of, but to have proclaimed it on the microphone was a step up. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, there’s the verse that says that in Christ all old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new and for me that’s really a past difficulty and now I see it as a victory. The fact that I shared it bore fruit because two 17-year-old girls gave their lives to Jesus and prayed the prayer of repentance following my testimony and another 23-year-old man prayed the prayer of repentance with me afterwards. I don’t think evangelism should be reserved for a camp, but having one in the summer where you’re with lots of other Christians who want to share the Gospel is encouraging. There’s this group effect where together we’re stronger and there’s a lot less fear of man. You come to this camp for a purpose and you achieve that purpose and Together we plant is interesting for that! If, through what you’ve experienced, you can bring people to God, it’s beneficial because you’re saved and other people are saved thanks to what you’ve experienced, so it’s very powerful! It’s just that the devil loses souls and we win souls for God, so it’s worth sharing what we’ve been through! I have a verse that comes to mind, man looks at his appearance but God looks at his heart and the most important thing is to do God’s will. He has asked us to go and share the Gospel, to make disciples, we have to be obedient and disciplined. This is Jesus’ last sentence in the book of Matthew, so you can imagine that it’s one of the most important things he said. All this is God’s will, let’s do it and everything will be fine.’

Sacha Vincent – From Mission School student to SUMMER’O 2024 leader

‘Being a leader at SUMMER’O made me realise just how effective this Mission School is. I certainly come away with a lot of knowledge, but above all they’re really strong in their way of teaching because it allows us to put it into practice directly. And that’s where I see the fruit of their multiplication. I’ve finished Mission School and I’m immediately able to pass on what I’ve learnt to others. I think that’s great! I also wanted to provide teaching that would be easy to put into practice, to demystify prophecy and just encourage people to practise it. Because not everyone is called to be a prophet, but everyone is called to prophesy. And this SUMMER’O, it’s a lot of people with different maturities, different callings and different ages, but I love it because they all come together to give of theirs to others. Everyone preaches differently and I love seeing this variety because you don’t have to be an evangelist or a mature Christian to be able to bring this message of salvation that Marseille so desperately needs. When we’re in the Old Port, there are 60, 80, 100 motivated people on fire for Jesus who come together to share the Gospel and their testimony. There are healings, deliverances and baptisms in the Holy Spirit. People are attracted by the dancing, the sketches, the songs… You can feel that on a spiritual level the kingdom of God is coming down more and more to settle in the city. We’re bringing light into the darkness. When you go to this camp, you don’t go home the same way.’

New for SUMMER’O 2024 : the first year of SUMMER’O Kids !

This is also the first year that SUMMER’O Kids has been set up by our teams. Children from 3 to 10 years old take part in lessons specifically designed for them to better understand and put into practice the power of the Holy Spirit. Some go so far as to equip other children alongside adults !

Zoé Reichor (9yo) – ‘For the theatre, I’m going to be the Holy Spirit to show and then we’ll explain’.

‘At the very beginning, we’ll tell them what’s going to happen and then we’ll start to explain a story by doing a play and then the children will practise. Then we go out and do some activities. For the theatre, I’m going to be the Holy Spirit to show and then we’ll explain. I like the children and that makes me happy.’
